We ended our trip with a refreshing dip on Rakuh A Idi, more commonly known as the Spring of Youth, a natural spring located adjacent to a boulder beach in Mahatao, Batanes.
According to the locals, during the Spanish period, a boy suffered from an intense skin disease that even doctors were unfamiliar with it. Trying her chances, his mother brought him to this spring. To their surprise, they saw his skin gradually healing. The locals consider the spring to be sacred and miraculous. Even up to this date, they bring their children and other family members to this spring whenever they are ill or sick.
This is the reason why tours do not include Spring of Youth on their itinerary. Tourists are actually discouraged to visit this place. After hearing these stories, I realized I'm lucky enough to be able to witness the beauty of this place.
