Day 1 of our 4 day Ha Giang loop trip done. My attempt to capture how stunning this part of Vietnam is basically failed as no photos do it justice but here's some anyway. Short mileage today of 63miles (97km) of twists and turns around forest, rivers, rice paddies and just amazing landscapes.

A morning well spent @wdoha with other mamas.
Picked up a healthy we-tox juice, to energise after a 5k pre-school run this morning.
We mostly discussed the ins and outs of the #Royalwedding 🇬🇧. Mama Loves Luxe x
💲💰OFFSHORE TAX AVOIDANCE💰💲 Of #particular relevant to U.S. #expats is the last tax scam on the “#dirty dozen” list – offshore tax avoidance. This scam has made the list for several years and remains a top #priority for the IRS in 2018.
On the IRS page dedicated to the offshore tax #avoidance scheme, the IRS puts #significant emphasis on the amnesty programs available for #taxpayers who want to come into compliance with the IRS. It also hails the #success of the #programs , stating that, “There have been more than 56,400 #disclosures and the IRS has collected more than $11.1 billion from the #Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Program (OVDP) since it opened in 2009… In #addition , another 65,000 taxpayers have #made use of separate streamlined procedures to #correct prior non-willful omissions and meet their #federal tax obligations.”
We believe that this reflects the #softer outreach approach still being #taken by the IRS, which favors taxpayer disclosure over aggressive auditing and #penalization . However, the IRS’s #recent announcement that the OVDP will be closing this year is a stark #reminder that the amnesty programs will not last forever. While OVDP is #closing , the IRS’s other main program, the Streamlined #Procedures , is to remain open for now. For delinquent #expat taxpayers, now more than ever is a good time to participate in an #IRS tax amnesty program.

Getting our energies out post-breakfast in another one of Berlin's adventure playgrounds. This afternoon I obtain the Kita Gutschein (childcare coupons) for my daughters. In Germany each child has a legal right to attend preschool and kindergarten until age 6, when primary school begins. Daycare for my kids will pretty much completely subsidized by the government, (we pay around €27/mo for lunches and snacks). For reference, we paid $3,300/mo for childcare in Seattle, not including meals. It was more than our mortgage payment. 🤔

I am learning that perhaps I shouldn't judge a destination by it's good and bad seasons (or whatever else makes a season high or low for tourists). Playa Samara's high season is December to March, with April being in the cusp. We arrived at the start of April, and whilst I can understand the benefits of days with no rain, it was so hot and so dry! I am loving the rain here. It is so refreshing, everything is getting greener by the second, and if possible the colours are even more vibrant following a good rain (and we do get some 'good' rains!) #costarica#wetseason#sogreen
