-In December I finished my last class of undergrad at Goshen College and received my diploma in the mail, BA in Theater.
-In January I was Production Stage Manager of National Playwriting Program at KCACTF, my lighting design display for Kindertransport progressed to final round of competition, and I lost my job and moved home to Manchester.
-In February I watched a lot of Netflix. I had nothing going for me so I visited my best friends @alexandria_the_great25 @operabuffabari @sarahlouboo928 and Nick, in Ohio.
-In March I was temporarily hired as lighting designer for Goshen High School’s musical Tarzan. I was proud of my design, happy again, and it helped me remember why I want to be a lighting designer. I was also told my design was no good. Then I attended USITT in Florida, which ended up costing me around $1,000 but I wanted to and I’m worth it.
-In April I visited family in DC, got to see a wonderful production at the Kennedy Center, and I turned 23.
-Now it’s May, and here are my life updates. Tomorrow I’m moving to Ohio to start a summer theater job at the Ohio Light Opera in Wooster, OH where I’ll be working and living with many wonderful theater people, including Alex and Ben. Then starting this fall, I’ll be moving to Philadelphia, where I’ve been accepted into the grad program at Temple University, full ride. I’ll be 1 of only 2 students to earn an MFA in Theatre Lighting and Projection Design.
Lots of changes are coming my way. If everything hadn’t happened the way that it has, things wouldn’t be looking up like they are now. I’m an artist at heart, now and forever, creating theatre to make the world better. I’m heading down my path to success, one step at a time, enjoying each step along the way.
I came across this pic a couple weeks ago on my laptop and what better day to post it than today. Happy Birthday to the One and Only @ikosakioduwa 😎 (I think I was trying to see how many props I can get on and still look cute)
